To prevent a repeat situation of last year's Crappy Halloween (click here to see last October's entry), we wanted to ensure that we were able to get to the Hines-Andraso household to join in the festivities. This year's concerns based on last year's fiasco:
1) How to navigate through California traffic
2) Getting Lauren to wear her costume for more than 12 seconds before melting down
3) Not knowing if she would want to treat or treat
I took the afternoon off to beat the traffic, we put on the Cinderella DVD in the car, and took off for the city of Orange. To address concern #2, we've been putting her angel costume on her each night this week to get her used to it (we were clocking at 23 seconds so we were progressing) but how would she fare come game time?
Lorraine and Sueann fought a minor battle to get Lauren's costume on. After 24 seconds (with a steady stream of tears), we seemed to be on our way. Sitting with Eve helped...
Lauren didn't want to put the halo on her head (no surprise). She rather liked the feel of a piece of tinsel she got from Eve's black witch broom...
This photo was snapped 1 second after putting it on her. It was off 1 second afterwards...
Then strange things started happening (it was Halloween after all). We put Lauren in her stroller and followed the group of older kids on their trick or treating route. Feeling like she was being left out, she asked to be let out of her stroller. Then, she pointed to her halo, tilted her head towards us, wanting it placed on head, and started walking towards the next house...
All in all, it was amazing to see her enjoying her first Halloween. The final count: costume on for 63 minutes, halo on for 51 minutes, 8 pieces of chocolate, 4 pieces of candy, and 1 box of Nerds. Next Halloween and more chocolate/candy await!
P.S. - Speaking of scary, let's shut down this haunted house we've been living in for the last 8 years! Don't forget to vote on Nov 4th to make a difference. Change, yo.

Does that little angel have any pull with the big guy upstairs that she can ensure us a return to sanity come Tuesday? If so, tell her to do her thing.
She's adorable! The angel costume becomes her. I've heard claims about sometimes unangelic behavior, Lauren, but don't worry -- Auntie Kerri doesn't believe a word of it.
The CUTEST angel I have seen!! Glad to hear that you were able to make Halloween with your friends!
The above anonymous post is by me, your favorite NJ cousin, Cathy :-)
