My Girls
Having a few recent days off this holiday has given me a new insight on how some things work around here. Check out my girls' morning ritual. Coffee and yogurt drink. Watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...

Christmas Eve Wipeout and Christmas Gifts
For a Christmas Eve treat, JohnDawn graced us with their presence on the 24th. They drove down from San Francisco for the family Christmas Day gala but stopped to see us the day before to get some Lauren time of their own. It was time well-spent, and Lauren was very excited to see them - so excited, that she even put on her own action short movie for Uncle John to film. Check out this performance.
"This year's Oscar for Best Actress in an Action Movie goes to...
Lauren Sohl Mi Lee for her performance in 'Quantum Chair of Malice'. Entertainment Tonight reports that she does her own stunts and it's rumored that she gained two pounds for this role." NOTE: No child actors were harmed or injured during the filming of this movie...
To prepare for Christmas at her grandparents, we gave her a few starter gifts for practice (thanks, Aunt Christine for this first huge big one!):

Next gifts:

CHRISTMAS DAY (Grandparents in Santa Monica):

There are more pictures, I'm sure, from JohnDawn. We'll be sure to post them as soon as we get them.
Happy Holidays!!!

Mommy's Little Helper
It was refreshing to have some company in the kitchen this year while baking Christmas cookies. I actually had quite the little helper...

Day 3 Without Mummy
After posting yesterday's entry, giving Lauren a bath, and putting her down at an "early" 9pm, it was a bit too quiet. So what does Daddy do? Watch Season 1 episodes of 30 Rock on Instant Netflix. You gotta love technology.
Anyway, after Lauren woke up this morning, we went to get her haircut - a first for me. I didn't know how she would react to this kids' haircutting place (First Cuts) but I brought my camera and portable DVD player just in case. She didn't want to sit in any of the rocket ships so I had to sit down (on a chair, not in a rocket ship), and she sat on my lap. She didn't like the SpongeBob SquarePants that was on the flatscreen TV in front of her so we had to use our DVD player with the Lion King. As I sat there, holding onto my daughter with one hand while positioning the DVD player off to the side with the other hand, I was going to ask one of the other people there to take a picture of us. But then we were suddenly done. Seriously, it must have been 8 minutes and about 6 snips of the scissors. At $24 (without tip), that's $4 a snip. Nice business model. So apologies, no picture of her getting her haircut. We did go to Fashion Island afterwards, though. Here's her hair from behind (hmm, I'm not sure how much different it is):

More pics from the Island...

This afternoon, we stopped by the market (this is my feeble attempt to make up for not having a picture of her getting her haircut)...

Lorraine gets back tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure Lauren can't wait to have her mummy back again!

A Day with Daddy
While Lorraine is taking a well-deserved trip to North Carolina to see her friends, Lauren and I have spent the last two days together. Today, Aunt Helen drove down on her day off work and we spent the morning at the Long Beach Aquarium...

And then, in the evening, Lauren and I went to do some shopping at the mall:

Lauren: "I'm tired. This looks like a good spot to relax."

"That's the ticket..."

Don't worry, mommy, I washed my face and hands immediately after this picture! We miss you mommy!
What will we do tomorrow?

Happy 2nd Birthday, Lauren
This past weekend, we had a pre-birthday birthday celebration in Santa Monica at Grandma & Grandpa Lee's house for Lauren AND Helen. Here, Henry is explaining to Lauren to not touch but blow the candle out:

Aunt Helen made Lauren a very special birthday cake (Thank you so much, Helen!). Lauren loved the icing and star sprinkles:

A BIT OF TRIVIA
Did you know that Lauren and Helen share the same birthday? I love that they have a very special life-long bond. Happy Birthday, Helen!

Grandma & Grandpa gave Lauren a Little Tykes car. Henry feverishly assembled it in record time as Lauren was excitedly jumping up and down in anticipation to take it for a spin:

Just a cute photo I took on Tuesday...

THE BIG DAY
Lauren and I met Sueann at the Rainforest Cafe for a birthday lunch today. Thank you for celebrating with us today, Sueann! Lauren (and I) had SO MUCH FUN!!!
