SEISMIC

In case you didn't hear, we had an earthquake today. It measured 5.4 on the Richter scale - a moderate magnitude. Minor structural damage and minor injuries across Southern California. It occurred 35 miles east of Los Angeles and was felt as far away as San Diego and Las Vegas.

Lorraine, Lauren, and I are fine. Lorraine grabbed Lauren and instinctively did what she is supposed to do - stand under a doorway. I was giving a presentation at work on the 9th floor and although I noticed the wide-eyed people in the audience when it struck, I instinctively did what every business person is supposed to do - kept on presenting. I have to get my priorities straight. Lauren is still ultra spooked by the incident and has been very clingy to her mother since the quake. Sigh.

To make matters worse, I'm away from home on a business trip in San Diego tonight, leaving my two earthquake survivors at home alone to deal with the trauma. I must be up for the worst-husband/father of the year award. Sigh.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your calls and enquiries. It's comforting to know that people are checking up on us.

Henry, don't be so hard on yourself. Even though Lorraine is from the midwest, she's got some California in her to know what to do!
Lorraine, you are a trooper!
