We took our first official non-Ohio family vacation during the week of Memorial Day holiday. We were planning on staying at the
Westin Desert Willow, 2 1/2 hours away by car. Unfortunately, we got off to a rocky start by leaving on Friday morning of the long weekend. 90 minutes into the drive, one tanker explosion ahead on our freeway (see pics and article
here), and ALL roads in and out of the area at dead stop, we found ourselves back at OUR HOME 6 hours after we started our drive. We rested for 4 hours and left at 930pm though another route. Once we got there at midnight, it was a great break for us. I played 3 rounds of golf at the top-rated
Desert Willow Golf courses (our balcony overlooked the 16th hole tee box of the Mountain View course - Lorraine and Lauren watched as my foursome teed off. Lauren yelled, "Great job, daddy!" after my drive. Well, it was a very nice drive...)
